Planning a Garden

Gardening is one of my favorite pastimes. However, other than a few herbs on my window sills, and my amaryllis collection which are weeks away from blooming, I'm not growing much in December. I consider January 1st the beginnning of gardening season. Although the last frost may be over four months away, and it's snowing as I write this, I'm starting to plan. In the dead of winter all things are possible when spring comes. I'll mulch more. I'll keep ahead of the weeds. I'll pick every last green bean. I'll stake early. I'll expand the garden and on and on. Oh the possibilities, a new year, a new garden, a new beginning.
